Myths and facts about yoga with pets

Yoga with pets is a controversial topic for some. There is sometimes criticism of the whole concept of practicing among puppies or kittens, so we decided to take a closer look at our approach and debunk the most common myths.

People keep coming back to us to relax and recharge their batteries, puppy and kitten owners are delighted that we have enabled them to socialise and promote their breeds and we are delighted that we can combine all of this into something useful for everyone.

"Puppies are locked in space and God knows what happens to them when they grow up..."

Puppies and kittens that come to us are most often 7 weeks old before they go to their new owners. That's why the breeders want them to socialise and get used to people.

Right after they arrive with their breeder, the pets have about half an hour to explore the area without people so that they can adapt to where they are and feel safe.

When they come to us for the second or third time the owners themselves often remark on how much more playful and cuddly the puppies/kittens are.

If a puppy or kitten is scared and doesn't want to be around people, we leave space for them to approach the contact on their own when they feel comfortable. Sometimes it's 5 minutes, sometimes it's a second lesson, but we don't push them into contact in any way.

"Pets don't even get a drink and they are forced to play with people."

Another untruth circulating about the concept of yoga with pets. We believe that not every studio around the world treats pets nicely, but our priority is pets. That's why we constantly refill their water, emphasize the rules of behavior for participants at the beginning of the class, which is also supervised by an assistant during the class.

We definitely don't force puppies or kittens into activity, we remind people not to pick them up and force them to do something against their will.

If they fall asleep, we let them rest in their natural mode.

"It's unhygienic."

Hygiene is something that we really care about, because we are working with animals, and baby animals at that, so we need to make sure that the space is as safe as possible for them.

We always mop the area before the lesson, apply cleaning products suitable for animals and check that there are no dangerous objects around.

Each group of puppies gets their own set of toys, and sanitized clean water bowls.

If any of the puppies do their business, our assistant steps in and cleans up. This is a situation that every participant has to take into account. After all, it is a lesson with animals. If something like this happens, all the participant has to do is alert the assistant.

At the same time, we emphasize to all participants to bring a change of clothes, enter the hall without shoes and with disinfected hands.

Věříme, že pokud lekci sami vyzkoušíte, nebudete podobným mýtům věřit a uvidíte, že nám na pohodlí mazlíčků opravdu záleží.
